Spring Rain

Eastern art has been a source of inspiration for Trudi Jaeger, such as Chinese painting from the period of the Song Dynasty (960–1279). Jaeger sees her art as an encounter between east and west. Her affinity with calligraphy is obvious, especially in the paintings. Use of dark colours on light backgrounds is perhaps the most striking feature, and one can also trace the quiet sensitivity that is found in Japanese and Chinese landscape painting traditions.

Excerpts from Works on Paper, written by Dag Sveen.

TU FU (712–770), (see poem below), was a Chinese poet of the T'ang dynasty. He is known as a poet-historian for his portrayal of the social and political disorders of his time and is also noted for his artistry and craftsmanship.
